Musical Theater in New York summer course in New York, by Oxbridge Academic Programs.
Students interested in life on, or behind, the stage will participate in workshops and masterclasses ranging from improvisation and vocal technique to script analysis and mime. This course will take students from auditions and casting through rehearsals and the final curtain call. Students will also get a chance to see the professionals in action by attending a selection of Broadway shows. Major students will plan, rehearse, and put on a full show performance by the end of the session.
Oxbridge in New York takes place at Barnard College, an independent liberal arts college established in 1889 and affiliated with Columbia University since 1900.
In New York, students live in rooms that are occupied by undergraduates during the year. Students are housed in single or double rooms and have access to shared facilities.
Students on the Oxbridge in New York program choose one Major course and one Workshop course to study for the month. Popular courses include Creative Writing, Finance and Business, and Musical Theater.
Every class is designed to use New York as a teaching tool. When not in class, students can take part in the activities planned by the program, whether it be attending a Major League Baseball game, visiting Coney Island, or going to see a Broadway show.
