Academic Foundation Courses at Eton

Q: Are airport transfers provided?

Earlscliffe fees include return transfers to/from London Heathrow and London Gatwick for flights/trains scheduled to arrive/depart between 9am-3pm on published arrival and departure days. For other locations, students are provided with the option of using SBC's Shared Transfer Service from/to London Heathrow Airport and St. Pancras International. When a student arrives, an SBC staff member wearing a bright yellow t-shirt will be waiting to greet her/him and accompany them to our Welcome Club. At Welcome Club, she/he will have the chance to meet other students arriving, have some light refreshments and relax. After a little rest, students will be accompanied by students and SBC staff to board the coach and be taken directly to the School in a private coach. The Shared Transfer Service can be used by students using the following flight times: Flight landing time on arrival day: 06:00-17:00 Flight take-off time on departure day: 8:00-18:00 If you book a flight outside of these times or to/from another UK airport, we can look at sending a staff member in a taxi to collect or drop off your child, but it will cost more than the Shared Transfer Service. Quotations are available upon request.

Q: Is course insurance provided?

Yes, course insurance is included in the cost of your course. This covers essential medical insurance, including emergency treatment and other related costs.

Q: What supervision is provided?

SBC ensures a high level of supervision. There is a dedicated team of welfare staff to supervise students 24/7. Staff-to-student ratios are typically high to ensure students are supported both academically and pastorally.

Q: How many hours of tuition are provided?

SBC generally offers 15 to 20 hours of tuition per week, depending on the course, combining taught components and skills based group project work. At Oxford College and Dukes Cambridge 25 hours of tuition are offered weekly, combining lectures, seminars, tutorials, and industry experience sessions.

Q: What visa do I need and how do I get it?

Students from countries outside the UK or Schengen Area may require a standard visitor visa. SBC provides supporting documentation, including confirmation letters, but students or their families are responsible for the visa application process. Q: Where will I be staying / what is the accommodation like?

Students stay in high-quality boarding school or university-style accommodation, usually in single or shared rooms. Facilities are modern and safe, with common areas for socializing. Boys and girls are accommodated separately, and staff are always nearby.

Q: Will I get a certificate?

Yes, students receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the course, detailing their progress and any academic milestones they’ve reached. Students at Oxford College and Dukes Cambridge receive a Letter of Recommendation to support their university applications.

UNFORGETABLE EXPERIENCE y son attended SBC summer camps two…

My son attended SBC summer camps two years in a row. Last year at SBC at Canford, this year at HEADINGTON OXFORD. They were two wonderful experiences. Every aspect is studied in detail. The whole organization works perfectly. Enrollment is simple, all questions are answered promptly in practically real time and every aspect (health, character, ability, knowledge of the language) of the student is evaluated so that he feels at ease upon arrival on campus. The days are organized so that the kids are always busy, socialize, have fun and speak English. The lessons help students a lot to improve their level of English but thanks to group work, various presentations, team games they develop their skills and self-esteem. My son's level of English has significantly improved and above all he is much more confident and able to organize himself better.It's hard to put into words how much fun he had. He met many boys and girls with whom he made friends and with whom he spent unforgettable moments.Children from all over the world come to the SBC campuses and this gives them the opportunity to get to know different cultures.Seeing the smiles of the kids in the blog where the most significant moments are published, you can understand how this experience is extremely fun and positive for them.A special thanks to the staff who have always been very professional, helpful, attentive to the needs of every single boy and kind.Well done everyone and thanks.

Such a Memorable and Fruitful Experience

The students were really excited about the summer courses. They loved the campus, programme, and atmosphere. We're happy that our teamwork helps them become more confident and independent as they go through their busy schedule. Outstanding experience with Summer Boarding Coarses

My son has attended the SBC summer courses twice, and it was an outstanding experience. The program combines academic rigor with fun activities, making learning enjoyable and meaningful. The dedicated and inspiring staff, with their own high academic backgrounds, gave personalized attention and became friends with the kids.The diverse curriculum not only boosted my son’s knowledge but also his confidence and independence. SBC Cambridge College 2022

Before the pandemic, we booked 2 weeks of summer school. Since the summer programme was cancelled due to the pandemic, we were able to get a full refund or reschedule the booking for a following year without any problems.The summer school itself was an unforgettable experience for me. Everything was incredibly well organised, from the booking to the journey home.The staff and tutors were very nice, the accommodation very comfortable and we had excursions and leisure activities.To cut a long story short, I had a great time at Combridge College with SBC. It was definitely more than worth it giving it a try
