Programme Summary

Sapphire Education offers premium two-week residential academic summer programmes for ambitious students aged 14-18 at the University of Bath.

Students choose from five academic pathways: Computer Science, AI & Machine Learning; Business, Entrepreneurship & Start-Ups; Engineering, Design & Sustainability; Medicine, Health & Innovation; and Psychology, Marketing & Leadership.

Each pathway combines university-style seminars, practical workshops, project-based learning and a final Sapphire Innovation Showcase. Students also take part in academic Masterclasses, guided reflection, a Communicating with Confidence workshop, career guidance, an inspirational guest speaker session and an industry-focused experience linked to their chosen field.

Beyond the classroom, students enjoy full-day excursions, including London and Oxford, with an optional Harry Potter experience. Local activities give students the chance to explore Bath, the only UNESCO World Heritage city in the UK. Known for its Roman history, Georgian architecture and welcoming student atmosphere, Bath has also been ranked among the safest UK cities for students, giving families extra confidence in the residential experience.

Students live in University of Bath en-suite accommodation with full-board meals, structured activities, mentor check-ins and 24/7 support from Sapphire staff.

The programme is designed to help students explore their interests, build independence, develop communication skills and gain a clearer sense of future university and career pathways.

Academics & Extracurriculars

Students choose one academic pathway and study through university-style seminars, practical workshops, group discussion and project-based learning.

Courses are taught in small groups, with a maximum class size of 12. Each pathway helps students explore a future subject while developing academic confidence, teamwork, research skills, communication and presentation ability.

All students also take part in academic Masterclasses, guided reflection, a Communicating with Confidence workshop, career guidance and the Sapphire Innovation Showcase, where they present their ideas, research or project work.

Are airport transfers provided?
Transfers from Bristol, London Heathrow and London Gatwick are included in the course fee. Alternative airports and out-of-window transfers may be available on request, at an additional cost.
What level of English do I need?
For students taking one of our Future Scholars courses, we recommend a minimum English Level of B1. For students taking one of our Pre-University Scholars courses, we recommend a minimum English Level of B2.
Where will I be staying?
Students stay in premium, en-suite university accommodation at New College in Oxford. The residential programme includes all meals and 24/7 pastoral care and programme support.
What visa do I need and how do I get it?

Yes, course insurance is provided.
What supervision is provided?
We maintain a high staff-to-student ratio and have dedicated Sapphire staff living on site to ensure round-the-clock care, guidance, and pastoral support. Student safety and wellbeing are our top priorities.
How many hours of tuition are provided?
Students receive 45+ hours of academic sessions, workshops and masterclasses over the two-week programme. The wider schedule also includes career guidance, guest speakers, industry visits, cultural excursions, social activities and dedicated wellbeing time.
Will I get a certificate?
Student will have an end-of-course graduation, where they will receive their certificate.
