New College

Welcome to our guide to the best summer courses taking place on campus at New College

New College

Camp Summary

Although called New College, the college is actually very old and was founded in 1379. The name was originally given to the college to distinguish it from Oriel College, which was founded 50 years earlier, and has stuck ever since. When thoughtfully wandering through the Cloisters, keen-eyed students might notice the famous holm oak tree, which featured in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the scene where Draco Malfoy was turned into a ferret! If you’re not interested in tales of magic and wizardry, the magnificent dining hall and emotive gargoyles may just grab your attention instead.

Camp Highlights

  • On-site laundry facilities
  • Band room
  • Main field for football, rugby and cricket
  • 6 grass courts for tennis
  • Squash court
  • Table tennis table
  • 2 cricket nets

FAQs and Contact

How do Visas Work?
It's important to ensure you get the right visa for your summer school stay, which can typically be a tourist visa for short stays or you may need a student visa for longer stays. Your chosen summer school provider will support you with an acceptance letter.
How Does Insurance Work?
Many providers now provide educational travel insurance within their fees, so make sure to check this at the checkout (and if you need help, contact us!). In all circumstances make sure you have your own travel insurance cover as you normally would for trips abroad.
How Does Accommodation Work?
You will be staying in one of the campuses offered by our selection of featured providers, typically in university student accommodation, boarding school accommodation or comfortable residences. Browse our campus list for more information. All providers featured on this site offer comfortable, safe accommodation. Most are in shared rooms while some may offer single or en-suite options.
How do Transfers Work?
Most providers featured on our site offer transfers to and from major transport hubs such as London Heathrow airport, but it is best to check with the provider you choose before booking.
Do You Offer Courses?
Our team curates and compares top summer schools and courses but does not directly offer any summer school programs. The courses featured on our site are from our partner providers - please see our referrals disclaimer: https://api.oxfordsummerschools.com/about#referrals.
