Academy Royale International began in Oxford in 2004 with one goal: to give students an outstanding academic summer in historic university colleges. More than 20 years and 50,000 alumni later, students aged 12 to 18 from more than 175 countries come to Oxford and Cambridge to explore future degree subjects and build the confidence to shape their future.
You pick one two-week course from more than 20 subjects, including medicine, law, business, engineering, psychology, AI, architecture, film and international relations. Students aged 16 to 18 can also take Broadening Horizons, where you build your own timetable from two academic subjects and one skills workshop. The curriculum is the same at both campuses.
You learn from several specialists, not one teacher. Guest lecturers bring expertise from academia and industry, and your class lecturer helps you question and debate each perspective in small-group seminars. You then apply what you’ve learned through practical challenges, from pitching a business to performing CPR or arguing a mock trial.
In Oxford, you stay at Balliol, St Peter’s or St Catherine’s College. In Cambridge, you stay at Clare College on the River Cam. You sleep in student rooms, eat in historic dining halls and explore the city through guided tours, punting and evening socials.
Your summer ends with a formal graduation dinner in a college dining hall. You receive a graduation certificate, a personalised report and detailed grades, which make strong supporting materials for future university applications.

Our students will be staying in actual university accommodation. Most of our accommodation sites offer a mix of single and twin bedrooms. Some campuses have en-suite bedrooms while others have bathroom facilities shared between a small group of same-sex students. In some campuses, students have the option to pay our ‘En-suite Reservation Fee’, which entitles students to an en-suite room should one be available at their campus.
Contact our Admissions Team for more information. Sharing your room with fellow students is a great way of getting to know people and making friends. You can also request to share a room with someone you know studying the same course as you, though this is not guaranteed and must be done in advance of the course.
Fees include tuition, study materials, accommodation, meals, the published activity and excursion programme, welcome and graduation events, a graduation certificate and report, and Academy Royale International merchandise.
Meal arrangements vary by age and campus. Marlborough College residential fees include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Oxford and Cambridge academic programmes include breakfast and dinner, plus lunch for students aged 12 to 15 in Oxford. Optional extras, including airport transfers and certain excursions or Academies, cost extra.
Yes. All students who successfully complete their programme receive an Academy Royale International graduation certificate, presented at a ceremony on the final evening.
Graduation ceremonies are primarily for students. In some cases, parents may attend by prior arrangement, subject to available seating. Please contact the campus office well in advance to check availability.
