Junior Summer School at Marlborough College for Ages 10 to 12

Programme Summary

Academy Royale International’s junior summer school gives students aged 10 to 12 a confident first summer away from home. You live and study at Marlborough College, a historic British boarding school founded in 1843, with students from across the globe.

Choose your course

On Academic Discovery, you tackle a new big question every day, from life on Mars to extreme weather, combining humanities, arts and STEM. You can stay from one to four weeks. On Young Game Creators, you run your own creative studio for two weeks, designing game worlds, characters and stories, then coding playable games in Scratch. You don’t need any coding experience.

How you learn

Every day follows the same rhythm. You start with a challenge, research it through hands-on activities, then work in a small team to build a project. You present your ideas to the class at the end of each day. Classes have a maximum of 15 students.

Life at Marlborough

You live in boarding houses with residential staff on hand around the clock, and eat all your meals in the College refectory. Each afternoon, you get active on 116 hectares of sports fields and in the indoor swimming pool. Evenings bring quiz nights, talent shows and games. Your summer ends at Exhibition Evening, where you show your work to friends and staff.

In some campuses, students have the option to pay our ‘En-suite Reservation Fee’, which entitles students to an en-suite room should one be available at their campus.

We recommend that students keep checking this page - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/visiting-the-uk-as-an-eu-eea-or-swiss-citizen - for further information and updates.

Oxford Royale Academy recommends that registered students who require a visa to enter the UK apply for a Standard Visitor visa (details here), which authorises students to attend a short course of study (including English language programmes) in the UK. Students attending our Summer Schools in the USA may be able to enter the United States on the Visa Waiver programme.

You can find out whether you qualify for this by using the online Visa Wizard on the US Travel website – select the ‘study or exchange’, then ‘recreational program’ options. You will not require a student visa, but a standard visitor visa.
