Programme Summary
Academy Royale International’s English language summer school helps students aged 10 to 18 build confidence and fluency in English. You live and study at Marlborough College, a historic boarding school in Wiltshire founded in 1843, for one to four weeks.
Choose your course
English Discovery (ages 10 to 12) teaches English through projects, sport and creative clubs. English Explorer (ages 13 to 18) builds fluency through global themes and electives you choose yourself, from film-making to tennis. IELTS Preparation (ages 14 to 18) gives you three focused exam lessons a day. Iconic Britain (ages 14 to 18) links every English lesson to a famous British landmark you visit that week.
How you learn
Classes have a maximum of 15 students, so every student speaks often and gets regular feedback. Instead of grammar drills, you investigate ideas, solve problems and present projects in English. You finish your course at Exhibition Evening, where you present your work and celebrate your progress.
Life at Marlborough
You live in boarding houses, eat all your meals in the College refectory, and use 116 hectares of grounds, sports fields and an indoor swimming pool. Most courses include two supervised full-day excursions a week to places including London, Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge and Warwick Castle. A residential team supervises students 24 hours a day, with a staff-to-student ratio of 1:6.
