Law & Justice

Course Summary

Academy Royale International's Law & Justice summer school gives students aged 12 to 15 a two-week introduction to law in Oxford or Cambridge. You learn how laws are made, study criminal, civil and human rights law, then argue your case in a mock trial. Since 2004, we've welcomed students from more than 175 countries to live and study in historic university colleges.

Our Law & Justice summer school introduces students aged 12 to 15 to the study of law. For two weeks, you live and study in a historic college of the University of Oxford or Cambridge and gain real courtroom experience.

Week one: Branches of the law

You start by exploring why society needs laws and how they're made, from proposal to enforcement, comparing the UK with legal systems around the globe. You then study public law and human rights, and how laws protect justice, fairness and equality.

Week two: Find your place in court

You learn how crimes are defined, prosecuted and defended, and how civil law settles disputes. In your final module, you put everything into practice in a mock trial.

Who teaches you

Top legal minds and practising lawyers teach you in small groups, so you get personal feedback and support. Faculty include Lavanya Rajamani, Professor of International Environmental Law at the University of Oxford, and Yusuf Olalere, a corporate lawyer with an MSc in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford.

Where will I be staying?

Our students will be staying in actual university accommodation. Most of our accommodation sites offer a mix of single and twin bedrooms. In some campuses, students have the option to pay our ‘En-suite Reservation Fee’, which entitles students to an en-suite room should one be available at their campus.

Contact our Admissions Team for more information. Sharing your room with fellow students is a great way of getting to know people and making friends. You can also request to share a room with someone you know studying the same course as you, though this is not guaranteed and must be done in advance of the course.
