Academy Royale International’s IELTS Preparation course helps students aged 14 to 18 get ready for the IELTS exam at Marlborough College. You take three focused IELTS lessons a day, with timed assessments and speaking practice, plus two excursions a week to practise your English. Since 2004, we’ve welcomed students from more than 175 countries.
Our IELTS Preparation course builds the skills students aged 14 to 18 need to succeed in IELTS and at university. You live and study at Marlborough College for one to four weeks.
Each day, you take three IELTS lessons covering all four parts of the exam: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Timed assessments, exam technique and speaking practice teach you what examiners look for. Classes have a maximum of 15 students, with one member of staff for every six students, so you get regular, detailed feedback.
Each afternoon, you choose an elective, from journalism and debate to film-making and sport. Twice a week, you practise your English on a full-day excursion. You explore historic Oxford, visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour and the Science Museum, see London from an open-top bus, and visit Warwick Castle and Cotswold Wildlife Park.

You can also request to share a room with someone you know studying the same course as you, though this is not guaranteed and must be done in advance of the course.

You can go online and check your visa requirements by visiting the useful Check if you need a UK visa tool from the UK government. Students from European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not currently require a visa to enter the UK to attend our academic or English language courses. We recommend that students keep checking this page - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/visiting-the-uk-as-an-eu-eea-or-swiss-citizen - for further information and updates.
Oxford Royale Academy recommends that registered students who require a visa to enter the UK apply for a Standard Visitor visa (details here), which authorises students to attend a short course of study (including English language programmes) in the UK. Students attending our Summer Schools in the USA may be able to enter the United States on the Visa Waiver programme.
You can find out whether you qualify for this by using the online Visa Wizard on the US Travel website – select the ‘study or exchange’, then ‘recreational program’ options. You will not require a student visa, but a standard visitor visa.
