Academic Discovery (10–12)

Course Summary

Academy Royale International's Academic Discovery summer school gives students aged 10 to 12 a project-based summer at Marlborough College. You tackle a new big question every day, from life on Mars to extreme weather, combining humanities, arts and STEM. Since 2004, we've welcomed students from more than 175 countries.

Our Academic Discovery summer school gives students aged 10 to 12 the tools to ask and answer the big questions facing their generation. What is AI's role in society? How do we deal with extreme weather? Should humans travel to Mars?

You live and study at Marlborough College, a historic boarding school founded in 1843, for one to four weeks.

How you learn

Every day explores a new topic. You start by sharing ideas on a big question, then research it through hands-on activities. You join a small Mission Crew to solve problems and build a project, and present your ideas to the class at the end of the day. You learn in small classes alongside students from across the globe.

Life outside the classroom

Marlborough's 286-acre campus has sports pitches and an on-site swimming pool. Each afternoon, you get active with games and sports, and evenings bring challenges and social activities led by our activity team. You live in boarding houses with support from our residential team around the clock.

You can go online and check your visa requirements by visiting the useful Check if you need a UK visa tool from the UK government. We recommend that students keep checking this page - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/visiting-the-uk-as-an-eu-eea-or-swiss-citizen - for further information and updates.

Oxford Royale Academy recommends that registered students who require a visa to enter the UK apply for a Standard Visitor visa (details here), which authorises students to attend a short course of study (including English language programmes) in the UK. Students attending our Summer Schools in the USA may be able to enter the United States on the Visa Waiver programme.

You can find out whether you qualify for this by using the online Visa Wizard on the US Travel website – select the ‘study or exchange’, then ‘recreational program’ options. You will not require a student visa, but a standard visitor visa.
