Course Summary
Discover the world of veterinary science in Sydney, a city known for its dedication to animal welfare and environmental conservation. Immerse Education’s Veterinary Studies summer programme offers two tailored courses: one for students aged 13-15, introducing the basics of animal care and veterinary medicine, and another for students aged 16-18, exploring more advanced topics such as animal anatomy, diagnostics, and treatment techniques.
Both programmes provide students with a hands-on introduction to veterinary science, preparing them for further studies and careers in animal care. Learn more below to find out which course is right for your journey in veterinary studies.
Course Highlights
- Complete modules including Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Veterinary Pathogenesis, Animal Nutrition and The Nervous System. Learning happens in in-depth academic sessions, personal projects and 1:1 tutoring. All participants will live, study, dine and relax within St. Paul's College, a stunning residential community that's part of the University of Sydney. The Graduation Ceremony marks the completion of your Career Insights course. This event will be an elegant celebration of achievements. Participants taking part in Sydney Academic Insights courses will enjoy a variety of cultural and leisure activities. Expect excursions during our summer programme, which include exploring the iconic landmarks Sydney has to offer, including Sydney Opera House, the Australian Museum and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

More Information
You’ll study core topics such as animal biology, anatomy, and veterinary ethics. The course will also introduce you to how veterinarians diagnose and treat diseases in a variety of animals, from pets to livestock. You’ll explore the science behind veterinary medicine and gain insight into the daily challenges veterinarians face.
All participants will live in comfortable student accommodation at their chosen venue, in clean rooms and with adequate supervision. Where multiple campuses may be available (such as in Oxford or Cambridge), students will be allocated to a college a few weeks before arriving, based on their dates and subject choice.

We are delighted to offer all enrolled participants comprehensive summer school insurance for their chosen academic summer programme. This is included in the participation fee and is provided by Endsleigh Insurance. Learn more at https://www.immerse.education/programme-insurance/
Students will be supervised by their subject tutor during classtimes, and by mentors during their free time. Students will be part of a mentor family. A mentor family is a group of around 10 participants attending the programme in the same college but studying a variety of subjects. They are led by their mentor, a current undergraduate, who is there to answer any questions they may have about the programme or life at university. Mentors form the core of our pastoral care and are on hand to help participants throughout the programme. Participants will be sent an invitation to their mentor family group chat a few days before their programme is due to start, to introduce themselves and get to know each other before the programme begins.

I really enjoyed the activities like casino night and werewolve. And I also really liked the practical sessions in class. The mentors were also very welcoming and nice to be around like annika, dami and robert. Also i really liked the tours and when we went to cambridge and oxford. Overall, I really like the fact that there was a balance between learning and fun.
The best part of my experience at immerse was the people. Everyone I met - mentors, professors, other students - were all so supportive, kind, and helpful. I was initially worried to be in a completely new environment alone but these people made this experience an amazing one I will never forget!
