Course Summary
Explore the world of engineering in Oxford, a city known for innovation and excellence in science and technology. Immerse Education’s Engineering summer programme offers two courses: one for students aged 13-15, introducing fundamental engineering concepts, and another for students aged 16-18, focusing on advanced engineering topics like mechanics, electronics, and structural design.
Both courses give students the opportunity to work on practical projects and develop problem-solving skills, preparing them for future academic and career pursuits in engineering. Learn more below to find out which programme supports your engineering goals.
Course Highlights
- Complete modules include Electrical Engineering Basics and Structural Engineering and Design. Learning happens in in-depth academic sessions, personal projects and 1:1 tutoring. The graduation ceremony, held in a historic Oxford hall, celebrates participants' achievements with inspirational speeches and the awarding of certificates. There are two full-day excursions during the programme, one day trip to visit Cambridge and its constituent colleges, as well as an optional day out in London, seeing the city’s most famous landmarks as well as some free time for shopping. We offer a busy and diverse social programme to ensure you make the most of your time in Oxford. Activities include punting on the River Cherwell, zorb football, and a thrilling murder mystery night in the college. Evenings feature a variety of events, including inspiring guest speaker sessions, talent shows, cake and canvas painting evenings, quiz nights with friends, and sports tournaments.

More Information
You’ll explore key engineering concepts such as mechanics, electronics, and materials science. The course introduces you to the problem-solving techniques that engineers use to design and create new technologies, encouraging you to think critically about how engineering impacts the world around us.
All participants will live in comfortable student accommodation at their chosen venue, in clean rooms and with adequate supervision. Where multiple campuses may be available (such as in Oxford or Cambridge), students will be allocated to a college a few weeks before arriving, based on their dates and subject choice.

We are delighted to offer all enrolled participants comprehensive summer school insurance for their chosen academic summer programme. This is included in the participation fee and is provided by Endsleigh Insurance. Learn more at https://www.immerse.education/programme-insurance/
Students will be supervised by their subject tutor during classtimes, and by mentors during their free time. Students will be part of a mentor family. A mentor family is a group of around 10 participants attending the programme in the same college but studying a variety of subjects. They are led by their mentor, a current undergraduate, who is there to answer any questions they may have about the programme or life at university. Mentors form the core of our pastoral care and are on hand to help participants throughout the programme. Participants will be sent an invitation to their mentor family group chat a few days before their programme is due to start, to introduce themselves and get to know each other before the programme begins.

I really enjoyed the activities like casino night and werewolve. And I also really liked the practical sessions in class. The best part of my experience at immerse was the people. Everyone I met - mentors, professors, other students - were all so supportive, kind, and helpful. I was initially worried to be in a completely new environment alone but these people made this experience an amazing one I will never forget!
