The Economics programme in Tokyo offers students aged 15–18 the chance to explore the principles and theories that underpin local and global economies. You’ll examine topics ranging from supply and demand to international trade, developing the tools to analyse and understand economic behaviour in different contexts.
Learning in Tokyo adds a unique perspective, as Japan is home to a leading global economy and a centre for innovation, trade, and international finance. With academic-style seminars and real-world projects, you’ll strengthen your analytical skills and prepare for future study in economics, business, or related social sciences.

We offer two types of programmes:
- Academic Insights – includes 40 hours of tuition over two weeks, combining theory- and practical-based sessions, workshops, guest speaker events, and one-to-one tutorials. Class sizes are small, with an average of 7 students. - Career Insights – includes 45 hours of tuition over two weeks, with a focus on applied learning through classes, workshops, individual coaching sessions, and industry field visits.
Our tutors are used to teaching undergraduate students who have travelled from all over the world. They are delighted to support students who do not have English as a first language. However, we recommend that participants have a minimum English level of B2 to benefit from the programmes' academic nature fully.
Students are supervised by their subject tutor during class times, and by dedicated mentors during their free time. Students will be part of a mentor family, which is a group of around 7-10 participants attending the programme in the same college but studying a variety of subjects. They are led by their mentor, a current undergraduate at the host university, who is there to answer any questions they may have about the programme or life at university. Mentors form the core of our pastoral care and are on hand to help participants throughout the programme.
Travel to and from the programme is not included in the participation fee. However, we offer shared airport transfer service options for all our programmes. Please find more information on airport transfers here
Programme insurance is not included in the standard participation fee. However, we do offer additional comprehensive summer school insurance for any programme you choose. Our programme consultants are happy to provide more information during a complimentary consultation
Yes, all participants receive a certificate of completion and a detailed personal evaluation written by their tutors.
