Explore the future of sustainability in Tokyo, a city known for its innovative urban solutions and commitment to environmental sustainability. Immerse Education’s Global Society & Sustainability summer programme for students aged 15-18 covers topics such as sustainable city planning, environmental policy, and global sustainability challenges.
With Tokyo’s eco-conscious urban development projects, students will gain the knowledge and skills to tackle global sustainability issues, preparing them for future studies in environmental science or policy. Course Highlights
- Complete modules including Current Challenges in Global Context and Social Justice and Global Governance. Learning happens in project-based sessions, career skills sessions, industry visits and 1:1 tutoring. All participants will stay in accommodation in the heart of Tokyo, with allocations made a few weeks before arrival based on course dates and subject choices. The Graduation Ceremony in Tokyo is a prestigious event marking the completion of your Career Insights course. This celebration includes certificate presentations, inspiring speeches, and a traditional dinner. Tokyo offers a unique blend of ancient traditions and cutting-edge modernity. Participants will explore landmarks such as the Meiji Shrine, Shibuya Crossing, and Akihabara, the anime capital of Japan. Tokyo’s evenings are filled with unforgettable experiences. Attend guest speaker sessions, enjoy a theatre performance, or take part in a karaoke night – a staple of Japanese culture.

You’ll explore topics such as climate change, sustainable development, social justice, and environmental policy. The course introduces you to the complex relationships between governments, businesses, and communities in addressing global challenges like poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation. You’ll also examine how Japan’s sustainability initiatives and urban development strategies contribute to global sustainability efforts.
All participants will live in comfortable student accommodation at their chosen venue, in clean rooms and with adequate supervision. Where multiple campuses may be available (such as in Oxford or Cambridge), students will be allocated to a college a few weeks before arriving, based on their dates and subject choice.

We are delighted to offer all enrolled participants comprehensive summer school insurance for their chosen academic summer programme. This is included in the participation fee and is provided by Endsleigh Insurance. Learn more at https://www.immerse.education/programme-insurance/
Students will be supervised by their subject tutor during classtimes, and by mentors during their free time. Students will be part of a mentor family. A mentor family is a group of around 10 participants attending the programme in the same college but studying a variety of subjects. They are led by their mentor, a current undergraduate, who is there to answer any questions they may have about the programme or life at university. Mentors form the core of our pastoral care and are on hand to help participants throughout the programme. Participants will be sent an invitation to their mentor family group chat a few days before their programme is due to start, to introduce themselves and get to know each other before the programme begins.

I really enjoyed the activities like casino night and werewolve. And I also really liked the practical sessions in class. The mentors were also very welcoming and nice to be around like annika, dami and robert. Also i really liked the tours and when we went to cambridge and oxford. Overall, I really like the fact that there was a balance between learning and fun.
The best part of my experience at immerse was the people. Everyone I met - mentors, professors, other students - were all so supportive, kind, and helpful. I was initially worried to be in a completely new environment alone but these people made this experience an amazing one I will never forget!
