At ISSOS, students select one academic subject and one elective class to focus on during their three-week programme. All academic classes meet for three hours each weekday morning and are taught by highly qualified teaching staff — all experienced, working professionals in their subject areas.
In the afternoons, students pursue their chosen elective, giving them the chance to explore exciting new subjects or develop existing skills while learning from an expert team of professional coaches and teachers.
Places at ISSOS, both overall and within individual classes, are limited to ensure that every student feels part of the community and benefits from plenty of individual attention from their teachers.
To complement the rigorous academic program at ISSOS, students have plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy their summer holidays. They take part in a wide range of evening activities designed to encourage friendly competition, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Events include dodgeball, urban orienteering, mini-Olympics, Variety Night, Dragon’s Den, Scottish country dancing, and more. On Wednesday afternoons and weekends, students can also explore nearby cultural landmarks and enjoy activities such as kayaking and ten-pin bowling.
All students are housed in university halls of residence, in an area exclusive to ISSOS, with groups divided by sex and age range. Each student will be allocated either a shared or single room. The majority of rooms are shared in line with the ISSOS Rooming Policy, designed to ensure that every student feels included, can form genuine friendships, and enjoys a truly international experience. Where possible, roommates will be of different nationalities in order to promote English language learning, and students will not be placed with someone they already know.
Students who require a single or shared room for medical reasons will be given priority during the allocation process. Special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request.
