Course Summary
Discover the world of engineering in Cambridge, a city renowned for its technological advancements. Immerse Education’s Engineering summer programme offers two tailored courses: one for students aged 13-15, introducing foundational engineering principles, and another for students aged 16-18, focusing on advanced topics such as mechanics, electronics, and civil engineering.
Both programmes help students develop problem-solving skills and practical knowledge, laying the groundwork for future studies in engineering. Learn more below about how each programme can support your engineering ambitions.
Course Highlights
- Complete modules including Mechanical Engineering and Material Science. Learning happens in in-depth academic sessions, a personal project, and 1:1 tutoring. The graduation ceremony, held in a historic Cambridge hall, celebrates participants' achievements with inspirational speeches and the awarding of certificates. There are two full-day excursions during the programme, one day trip to visit Oxford and its constituent colleges, as well as an optional day out in London, seeing the city’s most famous landmarks as well as some free time for shopping. Outside of lessons, we are proud to offer a busy and diverse social programme to help you get the most out of your time in Cambridge. Evenings feature a variety of events, including inspiring guest speaker sessions, talent shows, cake and canvas painting evenings, quiz nights with friends, and sports tournaments.

More Information
You’ll explore fundamental engineering concepts, including mechanics, materials science, electronics, and design. The course provides a broad introduction to the field, helping you understand how engineering shapes the modern world.
All participants will live in comfortable student accommodation at their chosen venue, in clean rooms and with adequate supervision. Where multiple campuses may be available (such as in Oxford or Cambridge), students will be allocated to a college a few weeks before arriving, based on their dates and subject choice.

We are delighted to offer all enrolled participants comprehensive summer school insurance for their chosen academic summer programme. This is included in the participation fee and is provided by Endsleigh Insurance. Learn more at https://www.immerse.education/programme-insurance/
Students will be supervised by their subject tutor during classtimes, and by mentors during their free time. Students will be part of a mentor family. A mentor family is a group of around 10 participants attending the programme in the same college but studying a variety of subjects. They are led by their mentor, a current undergraduate, who is there to answer any questions they may have about the programme or life at university. Mentors form the core of our pastoral care and are on hand to help participants throughout the programme. Participants will be sent an invitation to their mentor family group chat a few days before their programme is due to start, to introduce themselves and get to know each other before the programme begins.

I really enjoyed the activities like casino night and werewolve. And I also really liked the practical sessions in class. The mentors were also very welcoming and nice to be around like annika, dami and robert. Also i really liked the tours and when we went to cambridge and oxford. Overall, I really like the fact that there was a balance between learning and fun.
The best part of my experience at immerse was the people. Everyone I met - mentors, professors, other students - were all so supportive, kind, and helpful. I was initially worried to be in a completely new environment alone but these people made this experience an amazing one I will never forget!
