For students who wish to further develop their English language skills, our Academic Discovery course provides a great alternative to General English. Through a content-based learning approach, Academic Discovery assists students in developing their English language skills through a range of subjects including history, geography, and creative writing. Students are challenged by its interesting and topical content, which has been designed specifically for 13 to 16-year old learners by our Academic Team. Due to the multinational and communicative environment provided, students will also be able to build on their fluency and confidence in using English.

Headington Oxford offers students high-quality on-campus accommodation, just a short walk from the centre of Oxford. There are separate boarding houses for boys and girls, offering a mixture of single, twin rooms, and some dormitory rooms – which sleep between three and five students. All houses have comfortable communal spaces where students can relax with their new friends from around the world.
Headington Oxford Summer School offers a variety of English and combined English Through Academic Subjects for 13-16 years old. Students receive 15 hours of tuition per week and can. choose between our General English, Academic Discovery or Global Young Leaders. Each course culminates with students delivering a small group presentation at their Time to Shine ceremony. All classes are multi-national, with a maximum of 15 students per class.
Students will participate in a multi-activity programme with a wide range of activity choices including football, arts and crafts, music, and swimming. Students typically have a choice from over 10 different activities each afternoon. There will also be several whole school events, including discos, sports tournaments, and filmmaking. Over 2-weeks, students will go on three excursions to famous UK tourist cities or destinations. During their stay, all students will visit London at least once. Our excursion destinations this summer include Oxford, London, and Bath.
